A proper outdoor MIMO antenna. No ground plane required.

The Fullband MIMORAD is an omni-directional outdoor antenna designed to connect 4G LTE and 5G routers with two antenna connectors. It features two independent antenna elements in a single IP67-rated ABS radome enclosure, providing spatial diversity for genuine 2x2 MIMO operation.

Unlike single-element antennas, the MIMORAD feeds both antenna ports on your router simultaneously - ANT1 and ANT2 - allowing the router's MIMO capability to work properly. The result is higher throughput, lower latency, and more resilient connections across all supported cellular bands.

The antenna is engineered to operate without a ground plane. This matters in practice: you can mount it on a plastic junction box, fibreglass pole, or wooden post without affecting the antenna's tuning or radiation pattern. Most competing antennas detune significantly when installed on non-metallic surfaces.

360° Omni Coverage

Uniform azimuth radiation across the full horizontal plane. Single installation, no re-pointing, no blind spots. Consistent signal in every direction regardless of tower orientation.

Dual-Element Spatial Diversity

Two independent antenna elements with separate SMA-Male ports. Connects to ANT1 and ANT2 on any dual-port 4G or 5G router, enabling genuine 2x2 MIMO spatial multiplexing for maximum data throughput.

IP67 Weatherproof

Total dust ingress protection and resistance to water immersion. Operates in temperatures from -40°C to +70°C. Built for permanent outdoor exposure: coastal, agricultural, rooftop, industrial.

Ground-Plane Independent

Performs correctly on any mounting surface: metal, plastic, fibreglass, wood. No detuning. No pattern distortion. Critical for enclosure-mounted deployments common in IoT and smart metering.

Common questions about the MIMORAD

What frequency bands does the Fullband MIMORAD cover?

The MIMORAD covers five major band groups: 698-960 MHz (LTE bands B20, B28 and B8), 1710 MHz (B3 transition point), 1800-2600 MHz (B3, B1 and B7), and 3500 MHz (5G NR n78). This covers every significant 4G LTE and sub-6GHz 5G band used by UK operators including EE, Vodafone, O2 and Three, as well as all major European network operators.

Does the MIMORAD require a ground plane to work correctly?

No. The MIMORAD is fully ground-plane independent. Many outdoor antennas rely on a metallic ground plane to tune correctly, which causes them to detune and perform poorly when mounted on plastic, fibreglass or wooden surfaces. The MIMORAD is specifically engineered to operate without a ground plane, making it ideal for installation on plastic enclosures, fibreglass poles, junction boxes and any non-metallic mounting surface.

Is the MIMORAD a true cross-polarised MIMO antenna?

The MIMORAD features dual-element spatial diversity rather than cross-polarisation. It has two independent antenna elements with separate SMA-Male ports, providing genuine 2x2 MIMO capability through spatial diversity. The two elements are spatially separated within the radome, providing decorrelated signal paths for the router's MIMO processing. This is a practical and effective approach to MIMO antenna design for outdoor cellular applications.

What is the VSWR performance of the MIMORAD?

VNA-measured VSWR is below 1.35:1 across the entire 960 MHz to 3500 MHz operating range. The 1710 MHz point measures 1.15, which is very close to a perfect impedance match. At 698 MHz the VSWR is 2.09, which is physically expected for a 200mm antenna at this low frequency and represents around 11% reflected power - within normal operational tolerance. All measurements were taken using a calibrated Agilent E5063A Network Analyser at 10 kHz IFBW.

What cable and connectors are supplied with the MIMORAD?

The MIMORAD is supplied with two 5m LMR195 low-loss coaxial cable leads, each pre-fitted with SMA-Male connectors. LMR195 is a flexible, low-loss cable well-suited to outdoor cellular installations. One lead connects to ANT1 and one to ANT2 on your router. Custom cable lengths are available on request.

How is the MIMORAD mounted?

The MIMORAD is supplied with both pole and wall mounting brackets as standard, including all fixings. The antenna body is 200mm tall and 75mm wide, with an ABS radome enclosure. It can be pole-mounted on masts from 25mm to 50mm diameter, or wall-mounted on any flat surface. The compact dimensions make it unobtrusive in both commercial and domestic deployments.

What is the IP rating and operating temperature range?

The MIMORAD is rated IP67. IP6x means it is completely dust-tight with no ingress of dust or foreign particles. IPx7 means it is protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre depth for up to 30 minutes. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C, and the storage temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. These ratings make the MIMORAD suitable for permanent outdoor deployment in all climatic conditions.

Can the MIMORAD be used with 5G NR routers?

Yes. The MIMORAD covers the 3500 MHz band (5G NR n78), which is the primary mid-band 5G frequency used by all UK operators. It also covers the sub-1GHz bands used for 5G coverage extension. For routers operating on mmWave 5G (above 24 GHz), a separate antenna would be required, but for sub-6GHz 5G NR the MIMORAD is fully compatible.

Connectivity hardware
built to stay connected

Fullband designs and supplies outdoor cellular antenna products for 4G LTE and 5G deployments. Our products are developed for real-world installation challenges: non-metallic mounting surfaces, wide temperature ranges, coastal and industrial environments, and the need to serve multiple cellular bands from a single antenna.

Every Fullband product goes through VNA verification and anechoic chamber testing before release. We publish real measured data - not theoretical curves.
